Ball milling is investigated as a method of reducing the leaching concentration (often termed stablilization) of heavy metals in municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash. Three heavy metals (Cu, Cr, Pb) loose much of their solubility in leachate by treating fly ash in a planetary ball mill, in which collisions between balls and fly ash drive various …
The ZEAS is mainly columnar and blocky, and the ball mill product is mainly dendritic. After mechanochemical ball milling, the contents of Mn, Sr, Pb, Ca and K increase slightly due to the dissolution of water-soluble substances in the ZEAS, such as Zn. The maps demonstrate that the Pb, Sr and S elements are consistently distributed in …

Al-1.4 at.%Pb, Cu-3.2 at.%Pb and Ni-3 at.%Pb have been rapidly solidified to obtain a nanoscale dispersion of Pb particles embedded within the higher melting point Al, Cu and Ni matrices.
The presented work offers an innovative process scheme for valorizing Pb-Zn slag, which involves crushing, grinding, and separation techniques to concentrate valuable components (non-ferrous metals). This methodology could have a significant impact on the global beneficiation of metallurgical slags since it is significantly more simple, …

The Cu–Zn system is rich in equilibrium and nonequilibrium phases. The assessed phase diagram [1], shown in Fig. 1, indicates the presence of two terminal solid solutions: α (or Cu) with an fcc structure and η (or Zn) which is hcp.The intermetallic phases and their structures are β (bcc), β′ (ordered bcc), γ (complex cubic), δ and ɛ which are …

Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 1 b-c, the ball milling duration and the added content of P could significantly promote the biochar adsorption of Cd and Pb. A ball-milling duration of 12 h with 5% added P (BPBC700) resulted in maximum adsorption capacities for Cd and Pb, among which Pb adsorption was more efficient.
The results also show that Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb can be removed from the fly ash with high efficiency using hydrochloric acid leaching, which is beneficial since these metals are potentially toxic. The nitric acid systems shows less efficient leaching of Cu and Zn as well as poor leaching efficiency of Pb; only 9% could be removed at pH 2.

1. Introduction. Lead smelting slag (LSS) usually contains high content of heavy metals (HMs) such as lead (Pb), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), and arsenic (As) (Liu et al., 2018).However, its complex mineral composition and distribution characteristics make the utilization efficiency of resources low at present, and disposal is …
